Aluminum Cabinets in Monte Vista and the San Luis Valley

Custom Marble Design now carries Rock Run Cabinetry, a line of all-aluminum, powder-coated cabinets you can put indoors or outside. They're built for the places where wood cabinets tend to struggle: an unheated garage, a shop, a mudroom that takes the brunt of snowmelt, or a patio kitchen that sits out all year. Call us at (719) 849-3990 or stop by the shop in Monte Vista for a quote.

We already make countertops at our Monte Vista shop, and now we can supply the cabinets that go under them too. If you're planning both, ask us to quote your countertop and cabinets together.

Why aluminum instead of wood?

Most cabinet trouble comes down to moisture and temperature. Wood swells, particleboard crumbles when it gets wet, and steel can rust. Here's how the manufacturer sums up the advantages of aluminum:

  • No rot, mold or rust
  • No warping or expansion with temperature fluctuation
  • Heavy duty yet lightweight construction
  • Non-corrosive, non-flammable and pest-resistant
  • Easy to clean, with a powder-coated finish

That matters in the Valley, where a garage can drop well below freezing at night and warm up again by afternoon. A cabinet that doesn't move with those swings keeps its doors lined up.

What comes on every cabinet

Each cabinet is built in Rock Run's own facility, from the aluminum box to the powder coating. Standard features include:

  • Soft-close doors and drawers
  • BLUM undermount soft-close drawer guides (Rock Run notes it may substitute hardware during supply shortages)
  • SALICE soft-close hinges, which Rock Run says will not seize in cooler temperatures
  • Adjustable leveling feet for uneven floors, which helps on an older garage slab
  • Adjustable, removable shelves

Options include a magnetic, adjustable toe kick and wheel kits.

Where these cabinets work well

Outdoor kitchens and patios

The Patio Line was made with outdoor kitchens in mind. The cabinets are 28 inches deep to fit bigger grills and have a finished back. One detail matters a lot for planning: Rock Run says the cabinet top won't support the weight of a smoker or grill, so a countertop has to be installed on top. That's the part we make. See our outdoor kitchen cabinets page for grill cabinets, bar cabinets and grill carts.

Garages, shops and mudrooms

Tall pantry and closet cabinets, base cabinets with drawers, wall cabinets, and mudroom closets with a bench for pulling on boots. Wheels are available if you want a rolling workbench. Read more on our garage, shop and mudroom cabinets page.

Kitchens, cabins and laundry rooms

Homes, cabins, lodges, condos and lofts are all on the manufacturer's list of places these cabinets go. A cabin that sits closed up through the winter, or a laundry room that sees spills, is a good fit for a cabinet that won't swell.

Sizes and colors

The Interior Line has more than 70 base cabinet options at 34.75 inches high and 18 or 24 inches deep, more than 50 wall (overhead) cabinets, and over 400 tall cabinets, including pantries, coat closets and broom closets.

Colors come in two groups. Cabinet-only colors are Gloss Black, Sage, Champagne, Matte White, Matte Black, Matte Navy and Walnut. Sandstone, Cappuccino, Chestnut, Ash, Gloss White, Gloss Blue and Blue Speckle come as either a cabinet or a countertop color. Colors on a screen can look slightly different from the real finish, so ask us before you settle on one.

Warranty, in plain terms

The original buyer gets Rock Run's limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for as long as they own the cabinet. The finish is covered for 3 years against flaking, peeling, cracking or major discoloration. Fading from sunlight and normal aging isn't covered, and neither are installation costs or damage from misuse or harsh cleaners. We're happy to walk through the details when you call.

Pairing cabinets with a countertop

A cabinet is only half of the job. We fabricate granite countertops, quartz countertops and acrylic countertops, so you can choose a top and the boxes under it in one conversation. You can see past stone work in our gallery.

How to get a quote

We don't post prices because every layout is different. Here's how to start:

  1. Call (719) 849-3990, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  2. Or stop by the shop at 1040 Colorado Hwy 370 in Monte Vista.
  3. It helps to have rough measurements or a sketch of the space, plus a few photos.
  4. Tell us whether you need a countertop too, and we'll quote both together.
