If your garage or shop gets cold, damp or dirty, aluminum cabinets are worth a look. Custom Marble Design carries Rock Run Cabinetry's all-aluminum cabinets, which don't rot, rust or warp the way wood and particleboard can when temperatures swing. Call (719) 849-3990 or come by the shop in Monte Vista for a quote.
A lot of garage storage is particleboard with a laminate skin. Once snowmelt off a truck soaks the bottom edge, it swells and the doors stop closing. Painted steel holds up better until it gets scratched and starts to rust.
These cabinets are aluminum, powder coated in the manufacturer's own facility. Rock Run's list of advantages includes no rot, mold or rust, and no warping or expansion with temperature fluctuation. The cabinets are also non-flammable and pest-resistant, which is handy in a shop or an outbuilding where mice like to move in for the winter.
Here's what a typical setup draws from:
Hinges matter in a cold garage. These cabinets use SALICE soft-close hinges, which the manufacturer says will not seize in cooler temperatures. The garage and basement are two of the places it names.

Wheel kits are available, including a castor plate set with 4-inch locking swivel wheels. Put a run of base cabinets on wheels, add a top, and you've got a workbench you can pull into the middle of the shop and push back against the wall when you need to park. Toe kicks and castors are options you order, so mention what you want when we quote it.
If you'd like a stone top on a workbench or utility counter, we can quote that too. See our granite countertops and quartz countertops pages, or our acrylic countertops for a lighter option.
Mudrooms in the Valley take a beating from November through April: wet boots, snowy coats, and gravel tracked in from the driveway. The mudroom closets in this line put coat hanging space on top, a drawer for gloves and hats in the middle, and room for shoes and boots below.
Pair them with a single-drawer cabinet topped with wood, and it becomes a bench for pulling on boots. According to Rock Run, the whole set can be sealed for outdoor use too, so a covered porch or entry works.

Cleanup is simple. The manufacturer's care guide says to rinse off dirt, wipe with warm water and a soft cloth, and dry with a towel. Mild soap is fine, but skip solvents and abrasive cleaners.
Garage and shop cabinets look sharp in Matte Black, Gloss Black or Walnut, and lighter finishes like Champagne or Matte White brighten a mudroom. There are 14 cabinet colors in all. Screen colors aren't exact, so talk with us before choosing.
The original owner gets Rock Run's limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, plus a 3-year finish warranty against flaking, peeling and cracking. It doesn't cover installation or damage from misuse or harsh cleaners. The aluminum cabinets overview has more on the full line, and the outdoor kitchen cabinets page covers patio setups.
Every garage and mudroom is laid out differently, so we quote each one instead of posting prices. Call (719) 849-3990, Monday through Friday from 8 to 5, or stop by 1040 Colorado Hwy 370 in Monte Vista. Measurements of the wall you want to fill, plus a few photos, make the conversation go faster. Planning a kitchen or utility counter as well? Ask us to quote your countertop and cabinets together. You can also use our contact page or go back to the Custom Marble Design home page.
